Focus on the students

In order to offer students an even better service, HTW Berlin is updating its processes in the area of study organisation. The university also made a deliberate decision to launch a new campus management system in order to set up the revised processes there for future users in an optimum manner.

Applicants and students as well as teachers and administrative staff will use the new system on a daily basis.

The CampusNet software

The future campus management system is based on the CampusNet software of Datenlotsen Informationssysteme GmbH and will replace the previous applications of HIS Hochschul-Informations-System eG, including LSF for students and lecturers as well as the products SOS and POS for administrative staff.

Web portal

The web portal is the central portal for applicants, students and teachers for application and study organisation. Prospective students can apply here, students can organise their courses and exams, and teachers can view their own courses and enter exam grades.

In addition, the following developments are envisaged:

  • Application and admission: The future campus management system should facilitate an end-to-end digital process. All participants should have authorised access at all times and be able to view current processing statuses.
  • Study programme management: In future, all related processes must be supported by the effective mapping of study programmes and examination regulations. In addition, module handbooks should have a versioning, archiving and display function appropriate for the addressees.
  • Student management: The management of student data includes all processes from re-registration and leave of absence to a change of study programme and exmatriculation. The plan is to speed up the processes and provide online applications and information.
  • Course management: The new software is intended to simplify the allocation of courses and modules and expand the possibilities of automated place allocation. All students and teachers should be able to compile and view their timetables individually.
  • Examination management: In future, students will be supported in organising their studies with progress and examination overviews. The campus management system will also offer examiners, examination boards and the Examinations Office various services for the administration of grades, examination attempts and notifications.
  • Theses: The registration and processing of theses is to be mapped in the future software. This means that submission and inspection deadlines can be viewed by the parties involved at any time in the web portal. Online amendments to and automatic reminders of deadlines will also be possible.

Management portal

In the management portal, the administrative staff of HTW Berlin can manage studies and teaching. Here, for example, they process applications received and plan courses for the coming semester.
