Project

Project organisation

To implement the new campus management system, numerous teams are involved in the project:

  • Subprojects: They optimise study organisation processes and instruct the software provider to transfer these to the new campus management system. The system requirements are implemented successively within the framework of five subprojects: Application and Admission (BuZ), Student Management (STUD), Study Programme Management (STG), Course Management (LVM) and Examination Management (PRM).
  • Horizontal subprojects: They contribute their expertise to the subprojects and implement interdisciplinary aspects of said subprojects. Three horizontal subprojects were created, which are active in the areas of IT, statistics and reform measures.
  • Core team: This steers the project as a whole. Its members also coordinate and advise the project’s various other teams.
  • Steering committee: This is available to all project participants in an advisory capacity and makes higher-level decisions.
  • Project contractor: The Chancellor of HTW Berlin and the Vice-President for Studies, Teaching and International Affairs initiated the project and are providing it with strategic support.

Method of operation

Those involved in the project work closely with the software provider and are able to inspect the new campus management system on a regular basis. This makes it possible to identify possible errors at an early stage and to submit change requests immediately.

Partners

The project is being conducted in cooperation with Datenlotsen Informationssysteme GmbH, which has already successfully launched its CampusNet software at over 70 universities. In consultation with HTW Berlin, Datenlotsen tailored the new campus management system to the university’s specific requirements.

Particularly in the initial stages, the project as a whole is also being supported by the university consultants at human digitals GmbH.
