The integration of academia and business practice is becoming increasingly important in view of the many challenges posed by the shortage of subject matter experts, digitalization, sustainability and shortage of financial resources.

In this context, the transfer of knowledge into business practice as well as input from businesses into research and teaching is a core task in order to achieve successful cooperation between the corporate world and the higher educational landscape.

At this point, the ControllingSolutions Network would like to make a subject-related contribution to the business topics of data analytics, controlling and finance & accounting and link companies and universities more effectively.

Students and graduates should gain access to real-life questions from corporations of all sizes through the network and work on them in specific teaching projects, projects, case studies, theses or internships.

On the one hand, this should prepare and facilitate access to the job market in the relevant subject areas. On the other hand, the urgent need of companies for relevant subject matter expertise and resources should be addressed as well. This is important in two aspects: many companies will lose the finance professionals of the baby boomer generation in the coming years. But this is not the only issue that needs to be mastered. The advancing digitalization in controlling, finance and accounting also requires a new skillset, which many companies simply lack today!

In return, companies are encouraged to actively support HTW Berlin research projects in the subject areas, be it through participation in surveys and interviews, knowledge sharing, the joint development of case studies or as a concrete use case.

The ControllingSolutions Network also aims to act as a facilitator between innovative research and the transfer of specialist knowledge on the one hand and specific corporate challenges  on the other.
